Andrew
Bennison
British photographer and writer Andrew Bennison was born in 1971 and is based in the North East of England, with interests in people, lifestyle, and landscape photography.
Coming from a traditional film background he now shoots high end digital work for many large and prestigious organisations, regional and national newspapers, magazines, book publishers, news agencies and undertakes commissions for private individuals.
Starting at an early age, Andrew like many children, had a Polaroid camera, but only used it occasionally to fill small albums with holiday snaps. It wasn’t until around the age of thirteen or fourteen that he began to take photography more seriously. With his little Pentax camera, he captured the joys of his friends, relatives, family life, holidays and open-air sporting activities. This freedom, or as others would call it “informal training”, enabled him to develop a unique style that soon became in demand for his school magazine editor and some smaller regional publications.
Carrying on from his school years, Andrew studied at University, continuing to further his photographic knowledge, he set himself up as a freelance photographer and started supplying regional newspapers and magazines with images, as a means of supporting his studies.
Since leaving University Andrew has had a varied and extensive career with roles in the Pharmaceutical industry and Law. He has a degree in Biochemical Engineering and Postgraduate qualifications in Law having been called to the bar in 2000 as a barrister.
On a personal note Andrew lives in rural Durham, isn’t married and enjoys fly fishing, field sports and hill walking or simply just being outdoors with his springer spaniel.
